Kilims can be vacuum-cleaned, yet it is recommended not to use maximum power.
How should stains be removed?
In the case of vegetal dyes (collector’s kilims and some new kilims) you can wet the stain and rub it. Using Perrier water is especially effective for immediate removal of stains.
In the case of chemical dyes (antique kilims), you can use a damp cloth, yet be careful not to flood the stain less the colours run.
In any case, you must react rapidly so that the stain does not get embedded in the weaving.
