The art of kilim, a symbolic medium of very ancient cultures.

The appellation ‘collector’s kilims’ refers flatweaves that were woven at a time when, in the country where they were made, women did not have access to chemical dyes.

The value of a kilim is not necessarily determined by its old age, but rather by the fact that its wool was dyed with natural dyes and that it was woven for personal, not commercial purposes.

Vegetal dyes are characterised by their density and brightness, which remain intact throughout the years. The systematic use of indigo blue also helps to recognize collector’s kilims at first glance.
